Portrait Disorder
Concept:The assignment for this task was to take a serious of photos and put them together in photoshop to create a gif version of portrait disorder. I decided to experiment by using outdoor and indoor environments.

Refining my work: I think that to improve my second response I could find a more interesting environment and experimented more with lighting or maybe have the subjects of my images try different actions that would make a weird motion in a gif

In the composition of this picture you can see a women standing put her hands over her eyes standing in the middle of a road with buildings surrounding her. The main focal point of the image is the purple smoke coming for the subjects face. In the picture there is a contrast between the browny/beige colours and the purple smoke all the colours in the images are quite bland and plain but then you have the purple which really stands out in the image. In the image the main source of light is coming from the gap in between the two buildings. The image has been manipulated on photoshop. There is symmetry in the background of the image for example the two buildings look very symmetrical. The photographer has made the viewpoint straight forward. In the image it looks like it is natural light instead of artificial.

In the composition of the image you can see a female sitting down with her head resting against a wall. The subject of the image is sitting completely still whilst there are loads of colourful lights moving around on her face and on the wall next to her. The main focal point of the image is the dancing lights because they are the only thing moving in the image. The lighting in this image os artificial. The viewpoint is close up and the direction of the light is coming from the angle that the girl is looking. The image has been manipulated in photoshop by using gif animator. The colours in these images are quite toned down and bland except from the reflection of the dancing lights. In this photograph there isn't much symmetry or pattern. The mood created in the image is almost dark in away considering the subject has a glum expression and is looking away from the camera.

This image has been manipulated in photoshop by using gif animator to create a still image with a moving subject. The composition of the photo consists of a subject covered in a white cloth looking almost ghost like shaking her head. The subject is surrounded by complete white creating a negative space affect. The main focal point is the subject moving its head, because it is the only thing moving in the photo all the attention goes straight to it. In the photo it seems as if it is artificial light because it is very bright and it is inside. There is almost symmetry on both sides of the background. The viewpoint is straight forward making the reader look straight at the subject. There is only one main shape in the image which is the ghost like person.

Symmetrical order
Concept: For this set task the concept was to take images of normal everyday things and then using photoshop edit them to create Symmetrical disorder. In photoshop i used the selecting tool to copy and paste a section of the images and then transferred it onto the other side of the image to create symmetrical disorder.

Refining my work: I think my images could be improved by using more interesting landscape images to make symmetrical and maybe instead of doing the traditional copy and paste one side, I could of copy and selected multiple sides and layered them on top.
How to do Symmetrical order
Artists Analysis

This image shows symmetrical order with the way that the dome is shaped. The colours in the image are mainly dark except for at the end of the tunnel where there is natural light. There is one figure in the image but they are shown almost as a silhouette fitting in with the dark colour scheme of the image. The image includes interesting pattens for example the roof has a criss cross pattern which toward the end of the tunnel starts to fade out into just black.

This image is really interesting to look at because the accuracy of the reflection. There is a lot of mellow colours but there is also a big square of a city landscape. The image has been manipulated in photoshop by using the crop tool and rotation. Its interesting how there is a single figure in the image turned away so the attention is put on the figure.
|
This image also fits with the theme of symmetrical order because it has symmetry on both sides of the image. The lighting is quite bold in the image and the colours go with a blue and white theme. The main focal point is the subject stood exactly in the middle of the image.

Typology
Concept: For this set task we were given 40 minuets to go out into the school environment and outside environment to takes images of willing participants faces and clothing and then had to sort the images into categories based on clothing style. The images are based of the work of Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek

Artist Analysis
Ari Versluis & Ellie Uyttenbroek
Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek have been working together since 1994. They were both inspired by a mutual interests in societies labelling of fashion. Throughout 20 years Ellie and Ari have documented many different fashion stereotypes around the world.
In this image you can see a series of images put together to create exactitude. The main colours in the images are black and white. Theses images are really interesting because they are done by coordinating the fashion sense. The people are also almost standing in the same place and position which gives order to the image. In the separate images each individual photo has the same lighting which shows order and keeps the whole image neat and clean.
Three Strands
Underwater- The idea behind these images are having a subject underwater or behind a glass door with a silhouette of their body this will be done using strong lighting. I got my inspiration from the photographer Alyssa Monks.
Trapped- To do these images I used slow shutter speeds to create the affect of someone shaking their head. I also experimented by using glass doors and people pressed up against and with the correct lighting a silhouette would be shown. I got my inspirations from the photographer Jacob Sutton
Refurbishment- I used a friends kitchen which was being remodelled this gave the effect of a disorderly place. I really like theses images because they are taken in really small places somewhere you would never normally look. I got my inspiration from the photographer John Divola

Third Strand
Refining my work: With my initial three stands I think they can all be developed for example. With my first strand I think that it can be improved by cropping out the bath and having just the water. With my second strand I think that I can make the images less blurry and make them more interesting. Also with my third strand take more images zoomed into specific parts instead of overall images zoomed out.

Artist inspiration
My Artist inspiration for my final piece is Flora Borsi. Flora Borsi is a photographer from Hungary. Borsi specialised in digital photography, she uses Photo manipulation to create surreal images and she tends to focus on the ideas of Relationships, Emotions and dreams. I chose Flora Borsi as my Artist inspiration because she also experiments with taking images underwater and creating disorder within the images.

Artist research
I found that the work done by Alban Grelated perfectly to my topic. I found his work particularly interesting as it is simply just a figure in water with no added objects. I also like how the water is almost engulfing the subject but they are remaining calm. The images are even stronger as they are just black and white which shows the ripples in the water in a more effective way. I will base some of my further developments on this artist.
Final Piece
For my final piece I have composed a series of images and using photoshop I put them together to create a Gif. I combined both the ideas of movement in water mixed with the marble affect created with a bath bomb to construct
