Levitation
Concept: The assignment for this task was to take some photos of people jumping around the create the levitation effect used in such artists photos like YowaYowa

Refining my work: To improved my levitation work I think I could make sure all images are in better focus and that the lighting looks good. Maybe also experiment more with different positions to make the photos more interesting and also cropping the images to make the composition look better.
Artist Analysis
YowaYowa
YowaYowa a Japanese artist also know as Natsumi Hayashi lives with her cat and is known for her levitation picture taken in every day locations. Using a Fast shutter speed she is able to capture people going about their everyday lives using levitation.
This Image is of a person levitation onto a train. YowaYowa asks the The composition of this picture is a women levitating on her person to jump up while she takes a picture of it using a fast shutter speed. The main focal point of the picture is the women. There is a similarity in the colours. The background is slightly blurred so that is focuses mainly on the women. The attention has been drawn to the women because she is the abstract thing in the photo. The viewpoint is side on so you can see the whole of the women.

The composition of this picture is a women levitating on her seat there are still people seen in the background of the picture showing everyday life. The main focal point is the women (contrating with the nomality and abnormality of te image) levitating from her seat no one is look at her as if it isn't normal. there is a slow shutter speed to capture the levitation. Your looking forward on onto the women so you can see the levitation. The background is blurred so you have a main focus of the women.

Zoom Blur
Concept: To take a series of images using a slow shutter speed and zooming in and out whilst the image is being taken to create a warped affect on the images.
First response
Second Repsonse
Refining my work: I think that my second response went better than my first as it had a more interesting subject and the composition for the image was a lot better than before.
Artist Analysis
Mike DeereThis a photograph by Mike Deere is taken inside a concert with the audience and the performer. This image is interesting because it experiments with Zoom blur but also it has a lot of bright colours that are really eye catching. The main focal point in the image is the performer as he is brightly dressed and is in the centre of the image. The camera has also been moved to give the image a tilted effect.

Idris Kahnthis image is really interesting as it looks really complex and intricate. I also really like the fact that it is in black and white so you can really focus on the bridge. this image would have been taken with a tripod and a slow shutter speed so it could capture all the movement of the bridge.

Lois GreenfieldIn this images Greenfield experiments with using a slow shutter speed to capture dancers mid air. The use of dancers makes the image more interesting as they are using abstract positions. This image is really interesting as it isn't something you normally would see it is almost as if the dancers have been paused mid show.

Artist Analysis
Francesca Woodman
Francesca Woodman was an american photographer Many of her photographs show young women who are nude, blurred (due to movement and long exposure times), merging with their surroundings, or whose faces are obscured. Her work is still displayed in Victoria Miro years after she killed her self at the age of 22.
In the image your eyes are immediately drawn to the women hanging by her hands. The main focal point i would say is the chair because of the darker colour of the chair it stands out more. This image could be taken with or without a tripod.
|
The main focal point of this image would be the woman in the middle her whole body is blurred where as the background is in focus. To create this ghostly affect the image would of been taken with a long exposure and a tripod.
|
In this image you can see a woman, the woman is very blurred which creates a ghostly affect she almost blends into the background. The background of the image is sharp and the floor is littered with debris. This image is achieved by long exposure.

liquify on Photoshop
Refining my work: I think this image could neat-end up as it isn't completely finished it is very messy but I like the technique.
Movement of a figure

Michael Bosanko artist research
Michael Bosanko is a welsh artist who uses a flash light and a slow shutter speed to capture light movement. Bosanko created light painting by accident when he was taking an image of the moon. Bosanko started taking these pictures in 2004 and continues today.
For this technique you need a tripod a camera and a flash light. To take this picture you need to have a slow shutter speed on your camera then you get a person using a flash light to make a pattern with the flash light pointing at the camera. When the image is taken the light will be recorded in the image. You can also use different coloured torches to make different lights to make the image more interesting.

Final Piece
Strand development
For my final piece I decided to chose 3 images that I thought were my best from the whole of Movement. I decided to chose at least one from each sub topic so I can show diversity in my work.
